Medicare Appeals

You have the right to appeal any decision about your Medicare services. This is true whether you are in the Original Medicare Plan, a Medicare managed care plan, or a Medicare prescription drug plan. If Medicare does not pay for an item or service you have been given, or if you are not given an item or service you think you should get, you can appeal.

Medigap

A Medigap policy is health insurance sold by private insurance companies to fill the “gaps” in Original Medicare Plan coverage. Medigap policies help pay some of the health care costs that the Original Medicare Plan doesn’t cover. If you are in the Original Medicare Plan and have a Medigap policy, then Medicare and your Medigap policy will pay both their shares of covered health care costs.  Click the above link for a guide to Medicap options. The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives.  Counselors available to answer questions about insurance choices, Medicare rights and protections, dealing with payment denials or appeals, complaints about care or treatment, and Medicare bills.

 

Center For Medicare Advocacy

The Center for Medicare Advocacy works to increase access to comprehensive Medicare coverage and excellent health care for elders and people with disabilities by providing the highest quality analysis, education and advocacy.
